5 Reasons Why Flossing Is Important

5 Reasons Why Flossing Is ImportantYour dental care routine is important since it helps you to maintain good oral hygiene. Thus, you must include flossing in your daily routine. While brushing your teeth at least twice a day goes a long way in ensuring that you have strong and healthy teeth, flossing is equally important.

Flossing ensures that you can clean in between your teeth where your toothbrush can not clean. That being said, here are a few more reasons why flossing is important;

Helps To Prevent Gum Disease

Flossing is important since it helps to prevent gum diseases such as bleeding gums and receding gum. When you don't floss, plaque builds up in between your teeth, which can eventually result in inflammation in the gums and redness, which can be painful.

Prevention of Tooth Decays

Apart from preventing gum disease, flossing is also important in preventing cavities. Tooth decay that is caused by plaque can create holes in the front layer of a tooth, which will cause pain and even infection. To prevent the formation of cavities, make sure that you floss at least once a day.

Flossing Helps to Keep Your Breath Fresh

While brushing is essential to have fresh breath, flossing is also a key part of keeping your breath fresh. A toothbrush cannot go in between the teeth, so if you do not floss, the food stuck in between the teeth will make your breath smell.

Helps To Prevent Other Chronic Diseases

Excess bacteria in the mouth will not only cause dental problems, but we can also attribute it to other diseases. These include; heart disease, respiratory diseases, and even diabetes.

Helps To Stop the Formation of Tartar

As stated earlier, failing to floss leads to the formation of plaque. When this plaque hardens, it turns into tartar. Tartar is very difficult to clean, this means that you will have to go to the dentist to have the tartar removed.

Flossing is an important step in your dental care routine that you should not skip. Therefore, make sure that you floss at least once a day.
