Camping Tips for Your Teeth
Posted on 8/1/2024 by Wilson Dentisty |
Nearly 70 percent of all American adults have gone camping at least once in their lives, and more than 45 percent of adults camp frequently. People who love to camp talk about the peace in the morning, the gorgeous beauty of nature, time with their families and friends, and even introducing their kids to water sports, hiking, and fishing. If you are taking your family camping soon, here are some tips for taking care of your teeth and gums while camping.
What Type of Camping Will You Be Doing?
Depending on the type of camping you are doing, you may not have to change your tooth brushing and flossing at all. If you are camping in an RV, cabin, or glamping, you will have direct access to a sink in your bathroom, which means your tooth routine will stay the same.
However, if you are tent camping or primitive camping, you may need to change your dental routine. Primitive campsites have very strict rules about disposing of and recycling trash, which means you may have to restrict what you use on your teeth and gums.
Tooth Powder
One of the easiest routines to change with regard to camping is using tooth powder rather than toothpaste. There are natural herbal tooth powders made from baking soda, salt, charcoal, goldenseal, clove, and peppermint. Because all of these toothpowders are natural, you should be able to use them in a primitive campsite as well as a cabin or glamping tent.
Natural Floss
Often, when you are primitive camping, you cannot use standard floss because it is not recyclable. This is especially the case for flossers, which have plastic handles and waxed string. However, there are natural flossing options available, such as coconut floss, that are recyclable. If you love flossers, you can find flossers that are biodegradable, which means you will be able to use them in primitive campsites.
